Q) Who may find this site useful?

A) Manufacturing Knowledge HERE was originally created for manufacturers, university staff and agencies who support the manufacturing sector. However, anybody wishing to gain better skills and technology is more than welcome to utilise this site.

Q) What is manufacturing? Who are manufacturers?

A) We think manufacturing is about value creation. It's not just a factory, but a group of people who are involved in the “business of making new things and making existing things better (more effectively)”. Manufacturing in our definition is not just a physical transformation of the product but it could be consultants; part of a logistics chain; and also the marketers.

Q) We are a distributor of high-tech machinery but not a manufacturer. Can we receive any advantage from using this site?

A) Certainly yes. Being a machinery distributor requires good knowledge of technology, assessing capability in functions, quality and performance. You may also need consulting skills to adequately recommend the products you deal with. Often, in some cases, you are requested to install and maintain the machinery. Universities' experience and capability will help both you and your business.

Q) I have looked for certain research information but couldn't find it. What can I do?

A) Please try a different keyword. If you find the information you need using other keywords, we would appreciate your feedback so that we can improve our Search engine's capability. If you cannot find the information you need at all, there are two possibilities; there is information (capability) existing at some universities but not presented in the proper way; there is no expertise in New Zealand in the field that you are seeking. In both cases, your feedback is very important.

Q) If I'm not sure which university to contact, what can I do?

Q) I was looking for specific research information. I could find some related information but not as specific as I wanted and I wonder if there is anybody who has expertise in this?

A) The universities may have the resources and capabilities to help you with your speciific requirement but at this time do not have it available on this site. Please utilise the Contact us form and let us know of your request.

Q) I'm looking for a team who are interested in joint research with us, but don't know who is the best team. What can I do?
